Weird Firefox Bug
Just came across something annoying in Firefox. I’m playing with a possible new layout for the Dynamo admin interface and when I click in some open area next to a textarea to focus the window and then move the mouse, it starts selecting text in the textarea. I’m not dragging the mouse while holding the button down, I’m just moving it around after clicking somewhere to the right of the textarea. Extremely annoying.
Thought it might only be this version of Firefox, but then I remembered that I’ve seen it before. On the existing layout which is completely different (old one is fixed width with floating columns, this one is fluid with absolutely positioned sidebar and flexible main area with right margin), it still happens, but only if I click inside the main column which is only slightly wider than the textarea.
I seem to have fixed it by floating the main area even though it isn’t necessary. Really weird.
I want to try this on windows if I get some time. Might only be the Linux or even only the Ubuntu version of Firefox..
Update: Aargh. The float didn’t work. It causes the main column to always be the minimum width…
